What We're Wearing: Washed Black

Many of us fashion loving ladies are firm believers that black is not only the chicest color, but the only color. Slimming, stylish and on-trend, black carries many magical qualities that brings joy. However, sometimes a pair of flat black denim doesn't quite make your heart sing. The trend mill never stops turning, and this season, we are carrying a vast assortment of what we swear to be this year's “it-jean”. The washed black jean: neither a true black nor a light grey, this color is in a league of its own, enough depth and darkness to hold interest and a certain fashion-formal appeal. This week we are going to introduce you to our personal favorite fall washed black styles and how to style and integrate these into your wardrobe.

The Westcliffe Skinny by Moussy are handmade Japanese stretch denim that will fulfill your dark denim needs. Featuring a figure hugging high rise with light destruction and whiskering throughout, these frayed hem ankle crop skinnies will help you achieve that classy-chic persona. Compliment the grunge aspect of the denim by pairing it with a slouchy pullover - we are opting for the Heavy Fleece Mockneck in Black by Stateside. Finish this look off with a rocker bootie such as the Charlie by Anine Bing and a matching pair of blacked out sunnies such as the Jefferson 54 by Illesteva. To dress things down for an everyday look, trade out your booties with a sneaker for an easy switch up.

Also from Moussy are The Staley Tapered.  If you are the type of girl who loves your washes dark, rises low (er) and your denim rigid, then this is the jean of your dreams. True to Moussy denim form, The Staley is a brand classic, cut from a substantantial 100% cotton with a heavy destroyed aesthetic. These taper at the ankle in a tattered, frayed hem. Due to the fiber content and lack of stretch in these selvedge jeans, don’t be afraid to size up, these will stretch with time no matter how rigid and tight they feel in the beginning. For the petite ladies, be aware that this may be more like a full length jean for you with a 27.25” inseam. If you are taller or more leggy, these should be the perfect ankle crop.  Embrace the upcoming sweater weather by pairing your Staleys with an ultra soft sweater such as the Virgo Bolted Sweater in Grey by Rails. Finish this look off with a sharp slide such as the Ekko Flat in Off White by Dolce Vita and a neutralizing pair of sunglasses - we opted for the clear acetate framed Eldridge in Champagne w/ olive lenses by Illesteva.  Wear this look for a casual day out with your friends, and they will all be raving over it!

Our last jean on the list will not only meet all of your comfort and style requirements, but you'll make mother earth happy by wearing them.   The Toni Mid Rise Straight in Feral by Agolde is made using a blend of organic cotton, recycled elastane, and lyocell.  This pair of American made stretch jeans will pair endlessly with just about anything in your wardrobe, but we feel like accentuating the flattering mid-rise of these is the way to go.  Pair these with a form-fitting bodysuit such as the Rib Tank Body Suit in White - also by Agolde!  Run your weekend errands in effortless California chic style and finish this outfit off with the beautiful Cocoon Coat made of pressed wool by Harris Wharf in Cream and the Agnese Woven Flat in Nude by St. Agni.
