Spring collections are finally making their debuts in stores around the world and it’s feeling like a vibrant and abundant time for fashion. Since time and money tend to be limited resources, we are focusing on three of our favorite, most wearable trends and ideas for SS20: grandpa cardigans, darker prints and cool camels.
The Grandpa Cardigan:
The cardigan has been long overdue for a comeback and we’re finally seeing it’s glorious return, this time however in the form of the chunky grandpa cardigan. Fret not, this isn’t the itchy brown sweater of yore (although done right that could be cool too), rather a cooler, almost cropped take on a classic. Cabled details and bigger buttons pay homage to the stylings we’ve seen before but we’re seeing these cardis paired back to casual bottoms like super high waisted light wash denim, silk skirts and even tailored bermudas for the fashionistas take. Comfort is always our favorite part of fashion and this trend is a great way to keep cozy this season. Battle the latent chill of spring in some of our favorite new cardigan styles from Loulou Studio and Anine Bing, plus more to come from Japanese designer Moussy.

Darker Prints:
With spring comes the perennial burst of colorful, pastel floral prints, but this year we’re seeing textiles done a bit differently. There’s no doubt colorful, maximalist, micro print dresses and blouses are still a seasonal staple, but what we’re finding more intriguing is the latest and darkest approach to print. In stark contrast to the poppy hues synonymously associated with spring, we’re seeing more tonal florals, monochromatic stripes, prints and textures all in ranges of dark colors. From washed down tie dyes to moody flowers, we’re loving a new less precious way to wear spring prints. Check out some of the great new styles that just landed from brands like Anine Bing, Misa and Rails.

Cool Camel:
Tones of beige, camel and taupe have been in the fashion zeitgeist for a minute, but now feels like the time to wear all of your neutral shades all together. Rather than the pale nudes that have dominated runways of seasons past, we’re seeing slightly earthier hues that aren’t quite brown on the rise. For those feeling bold, we say go for it and embrace spring fully in monochromatic caramel from head to toe. Pull on your favorite french girl trench, style it with a matching sweater and finish things off with your favorite Nubuck Golden Goose. Grab some bronzer and step outside your comfort zone in a full sand-toned look. See some of the latest arrivals to help you get this look going.
