Three Ways to Wear Cargos

Cargo inspired details are all the rage this summer–they even made it to our trend forecast Editorial a few weeks back!—and serve as an easy but refreshing departure from your typical  jeans. Yet many of us might hesitate at approaching how to style them, so today we show you one of our current shop favorites, and how you can use them as a guide to styling on-trend cargos this season.

AGOLDE’s Cooper cargo is a slim fitting, high rise take on an easygoing trouser pant–complete with patch pockets, flattering vertical seaming and flap back pockets, this pant is a clean iteration of the trend–and with its neutral wash, a perfect summer style. The rigid organic cotton feels like what you’d expect from a functional cargo, but with a slim trouser silhouette. Use them as a guide for implementing our tips for styling cargos this season!

Given that cargos are typically found in a neutral color, such as tan or olive, they pair easily with other neutrals for a monochromatic palette. Try styling them with a fitted rib tank or an easygoing blouse to offset their utilitarian aesthetic and keep your footwear neutral to match. This type of styling is also an excellent opportunity to incorporate on-trend light colored sunglasses to finish the look.

It may not seem immediately obvious, but cargos can be dressed up! In fact, just a simple addition of a crisp poplin statement top in black and an elegant wedge sandal immediately changes the entire look and feel of the pants. You can apply this tip to any utility style as an easy tweak to take them from day to night.

A seasonless crisp white shirt is a perennial closet staple in our minds, and you can implement your favorite by pairing it with a cargo. Wear it open and unbuttoned with a simple white tank underneath, and balance your silhouette by adding a belt to highlight your waist. This is an easy way to elevate a classic look–and don’t forget to add your favorite statement necklace and low top sneakers!
