The Self Care Kit

2020 has given us some low lows and a few high highs, but the best part has been the opportunity to take a moment of pause. The resurgence of self reflection and more time for self love and care that we too frequently don’t make time for in our busy lives. As most of us have been spending the majority of our time at home with limited interaction with friends and family, we find ourselves making space and opportunity to create new “at home” routines habits.  Whether it be in the form of your evening skin care routine, or nightly zooms with those friends you miss dearly, we are all trying to keep the optimism alive in one way or the other. We at Pavilion are big believers in the gift of giving - both for yourself and for others, and since we're all in this together, we have decided to focus this week’s Editorial on the importance of self care.

It is so important to take a moment to check in with ourselves before we can provide for others.  It’s understated to say that we are all going through our own personal struggles, and now, more than ever it’s crucial to allow yourself some deep breaths and relax your mind, body and soul.  Create your own self care kit with small things that bring peace, calm and joy even if in the smallest of forms. Maison Louis Marie has provided us with some of the most beautifully scented products, but the No. 4 Bois de Balincourt Candle is a total zen savior. Named after the Marie family’s home, Balincourt is surrounded by an ancient mysterious forest known for the magical trail called Lover’s Lane. This brand favorite scent is a sandalwood fragrance with strong hints of cedarwood complemented by earthy tones of cinnamon and vetiver, perfect for relaxing at home. Next on our list will surely bring some sparkle and a smile on anyone’s face. Whether for yourself or a friend with an upcoming birthday, Marit Rae’s Horoscope Necklace takes things to a personal level. This simple everyday piece hits a special note with your given zodiac sign embedded on a gold filled pendant  anchored on a gorgeously delicate open chain, perfect for all of your layering needs. Whether it be a special signet in your jewelry that you never take off, or a meaningful object at home, talismans often hold a strong comforting power. Add some protection and good fortune into your like with an evil eye from fine jewelry experts EF Collection. A symbol often used in their best selling gems, we love the delicate simplicity of their Gold and Diamond Evil Eye Bracelet. This 14k gold and diamond charm bracelet is the perfect gift to show yourself some love while benefiting from the powers it may hold. Wear this talisman everyday on it’s own, or have a little arm party and build a fun stack or your favorite wrist jewels.

We've all accepted and thrived in our new quarantine dress code. Jeans are out of the question for many, and we are welcoming our favorite comfy sweat suits with open arms. We know that waking up everyday and throwing on that old (yet cozy) big t-shirt can get a little redundant and discouraging, so let’s spice it up with some fashion sweats. Alternative Apparel knows exactly how to brighten our day and athleisure wardrobe with their brand new tie dye set. Bring some much needed color with the Terry Cropped Raw Edge Hoodie and Cozy Terry Short in Heritage Royal Tie Dye. This separate french terry sweat suit features a classic fitting short with an easy elasticated waist and a retro style cropped pop over hoodie in a fun blue and white tie dye. If tie dye isn’t your thing, keep things cozy in our favorite Anine Bing pullover, the Ramona AB x TO sweatshirt is the ultimate comfortable art x fashion collaboration. Adding a little bit of color is one of the easiest ways to amp up the optimism and shift your mood and pop accessories are a great way to incorporate some fun. Celebrate the last gasps of summer with the LC Sandal in Coral from TKEES or the beautiful Berry Tortoise Lisbon Sunglasses from Illesteva. No matter what you choose to cheer yourself or your distance family member, don’t forget to go easy on yourself and pepper in a few of life’s simple pleasures along the way.
