The Ellis Button Down Three Ways

The infamous white button down is an enduring staple that can be shockingly hard to find. Some prefer a crisp cotton, others may prefer a buttery silk, others are loyal to an undone linen; whether you fancy one or the other, Rails has given us a swoon-worthy summer iteration in the new Ellis Button Down in White. This light-weight cotton gauze blouse is a classic layer perfect for any warm sunny day and can be worn in myriad ways. We know the importance of shopping smart with the coronavirus still looming and hindering our everyday activities, so in this week’s Editorial, we're breaking down three ways to wear the perfect white blouse.
With the soaring temperatures and clear skies luring us out and about, we're all finally ready to jump into some denim shorts. The Ellis Button Down makes the perfect dynamic duo when paired with a light wash short such as the Dee Super High Rise in Chimes by AGOLDE. With a super “fashion high” rise of 12 ¼”, these pinch waist daisy dukes feature trendy distressing and fading for a vintage broken-in feel. We love the casual aesthetic we achieve with our Ellis blouse french tucked in the front with some quick rolls at the sleeve showing us just how easy it is to dress things down. Keep it casual and pair your summer look with a fun sneaker. We love the pop of print and color we get with Golden Goose’s new Running Sole in Leopard Pony with Silver Star.  These retro-inspired new arrivals will catch eyes with their combination of leopard printed calf hair, glittery trim and electric blue laces. Keep things interesting on top with a gold statement necklace such as Marit Rae’s 5mm Beaded Necklace and a classic pair of sunnies - we went with Illesteva’s new Greenwich in Star Tortoise and Citrine.
Another easy way to wear your Ellis Button Down is a quick and perfect combo for some high rise denim. Leave several of the bottom buttons undone and loosely know the two ends to convert your button down into a tie front blouse. This is an effortless and simple way to accentuate your waist while still keeping things relaxed, classic and fashion forward. Since you’re losing a little bit of length in your top when tied up, we outfitted our button down with the Helena Crop in Close to You from GRLFRND Denim. These medium blue high rise rigid jeans gain a retro look with an 11” high rise and straight fit. A notched cropped hem is the perfect way to show some ankle and add a glimmer of neutral shine to your look with a fun summer sandal. We love the level of feminine opulence that K. Jacques’ Ellada Sandal in Gold adds. These St. Tropez made, hand sewn cow hide leather grecian-inspired sandals feature metallic gold asymmetrical straps. Wear these wrapped all the way up gladiator style or gather and tie them almost as anklets. To complete you look, top things off with a white pendant like the Pierrot Necklace from Pascale Monvoisin and a warm toned pair of round rim sunnies such as Illesteva’s Leonards in Sungold. These Italian handmade honey tinted frames feature a democratic round shape in a fun translucent acetate plus UVA/UVB protection.
