Thanksgiving in Style

Thanksgiving is fast approaching, and things are definitely going to look and feel a little bit different this year. Whether you’re keeping things intimate with close family and friends, braving it alone, or keeping a safe distance on Zoom, it’s important to take the time and recognize the holiday for what it is - time to give thanks. 2020 has flung challenges at us left and right, but now more than ever, appreciating the people and things that we are thankful for will only bring us comfort and joy. No matter your plans, dressing up (or down) for the occasion should never be completely cancelled. Give yourself a sense of normalcy and be deliberate in your outfit choice this year, even if it’s nothing fancy. In this week’s Editorial, we are highlighting three fall-approved looks, perfect for the upcoming holiday.

Nothing says the “holiday” like warm moody greens, with autumnal tones as a staple for fall, we love keeping a touch of subtle seasonal color in our wardrobes, whether it be in our outerwear or accessories. AGOLDE is known for their trend-forward closet staples, and their new Turtleneck Long Sleeve Bodysuit in Foliage is the perfect layer for this year’s festivities. This muted earth tone is the perfect shade of deep green for a bit of color to keep things “festive” but neutral.  Made from a blend of stretchy micro modal and extra soft supima cotton, this body hugging rib bodysuit features a sophisticated built up mock neck and fitted sleeve for a tucked in look. A close fitting bodysuit always pairs well with an ultra high waisted skirt and or pant to hold everything in - we went with AGOLDE’s Pinch Waist High Rise Kick Jean in Subdued for a classic yet flirty pairing. Part of the brand’s Feel Good collection, these jeans are crafted with innovative technology for an eco-conscious take on denim. These retro inspired pinch waists cinch you in with a fashion high rise of 12 ¼” finished with a clean leg and subtle kick flare at the bottom. Tie everything together with a neutral slide. We love the subtle boho touch of a woven slip on like St. Agni’s Agnese Flat in Nude.

The obvious trend of the year has been everything comfort. We’ve all been reaching for hoodies, leggings and lounge for months now but taking the time to put together something formal will get you feeling immediately confident. You can never go wrong with a little bit of silk, and were loving everything about the Isabella Top in Black by Anine Bing. This menswear inspired blouse features an edgy double breasted button front and a feminine sleeve all cut in a buttery soft satin. Feel free to wear a cami underneath for a more modest and layered look, or stack up some necklaces and emphasize the deep V neckline. We love the daring outfitting possibilities that this blouse presents to us , but to soften things up, dress it down with a light blue skinny jean. For an effortless, vintage inspired look, we went with Moussy’s Glendele Skinny in Light Blue. These comfort stretch skinnies are the perfect everyday jean featuring tasteful hits of distress with fading and whiskering throughout true to the brand’s aesthetic. The addition of polyester and spandex makes these ankle crops soft enough to eat that extra slice of pie. If you’re not quite ready to whip out the heels, so keep things simple and tonal with a black slide.  We went with Dolce Vita’s Ekko Flat in Black for some asymmetrical edge and luxe leather.

Leather pants are one of those things that we love to see, but can’t quite squeeze our covid bodies into just yet. The invention of stretchy, coated denim is heaven sent for those wanting to achieve a similar sheen and finish as leather without the price tag, environmental impact and emotional risk. DL1961’s Bridget Crop in Black Coated is the ultimate alternative with a twist. Featuring a flattering high rise with an edgy kick flare silhouette, these ultra slimming “jeans” are made using the brand’s instasculpt technology to accentuate your shape in all the right places. With added lycra and polyester, these faux leather pants will feel just as comfortable as the leggings you didn’t want to take off. Keep riding the comfort train, but inject a little bit of color with an autumnal crew neck or sweater. We went with AGOLDE’s Thora Sweatshirt in Rhubarb for a cozy yet feminine touch. This cotton crewneck is elevated with a semi-fitted body and a methodically cropped ¾ length sleeve - we all know how important it is to keep our sleeves out of the gravy. Sneakers can be formal too, especially when they match our color scheme like Golden Goose’s Superstar in Black with White Star do here. These all black low tops feature a pop white star and heel cup for some contrast with bold black laces.
