Spring Sweaters

One of the annual perks of spring fashion is witnessing the evolution of transitional knitwear.  This season means mixed May weather and an arsenal of layers. Although we aren’t able to welcome the spring the way we envisioned, there’s no reason to close the door on adding some new staple sweaters into our wardrobe. On this week’s Editorial, we are styling the latest transitional knits in an array of colors and weights - read on for that perfect seasonal, on-trend refresh!
The cardigan is back in a big way this year, and Anine Bing’s Maxwell Cardigan in Indigo comes with some of our favorite trends of the season. A beautiful marled blue, a generous balloon sleeve all in a rib-stitch open front cardigan. This boxy silhouette is a modern classic with a full sleeve and oversized tonal buttons. This slouchy, versatile layer is constructed from a textured wool blend that pairs effortlessly with just about anything. For those that are super sensitive to wool, add a layer and a little bit of classic outfitting like Stateside’s L/S Shirred Neck Slub Scoop Top in White. We love the layer of dimension mixing the scoop neckline of this super-soft tissue thin tee with the deep v of the Maxwell cardigan. This body-skimming slub tee by Los Angeles based brand, Stateside, is the perfect layering piece. The added ruching down the length of the sleeve and side seam cinches and flatters every body shape. Keep things bright and spring with one of our favorite light wash jeans, the Kelley in Light Blue from Moussy. This handmade pair of Japanese denim is made from the most premium materials that will only get softer over time, making these the perfect long lasting jeans to carry you through the seasons. Keep in mind the Kelley starts quite stiff with no stretch, be sure to size up if you’re between sizes or not used to wearing rigid jeans.
Everyone needs a little bit of fresh color in their wardrobe, but it can be challenging to find the perfect everyday hue that’s not too overwhelming. If you want to add a little bit of spring-approved pastels (that don’t scream Easter!), then look no further. The Mele Crew in Hessian Multi by Brochu Walker is making all of our dreams come true. We are obsessing over this mid-weight slightly chunky knit and all of the feminine touches throughout. With subtle puff sleeve detailing and exaggerated rib trim, this skimming layer combines cotton with a touch of linen and silk voile, making this sweater a sophisticated one-of-a-kind piece.  This cream grounded knit is decorated with speckles of blues, oranges and reds so you can inject the perfect amount of color into any outfit. Keep things casual and pair your Brochu Walker sweater with a pair of clean, vintage inspired denim. Roll your sleeves and french-tuck into Agolde’s Riley High Rise Straight Crop in Renewal. This budget-friendly, sustainably made, ankle crop features a slim-straight silhouette with subtle fading and distressing adding to the worn feel. Top things off with sunnies and sneakers - or not if you’re still staying at home 100% of the time. We’re loving the light look and feel of the White Cord Golden Goose Superstar Sneakers and these classic oversized sunglasses from Illesteva, the Los Feliz in Black.

Nothing beats the satisfaction of finding that perfect ultra-soft and lightweight neutral v-neck.  Loulou Studio’s Hakueru V-Neck in Light Grey Melange will certainly fill that gap in your closet.  Featuring the ideal open v neckline, this lighter-than-air wool cashmere blend layer can easily be dressed up or down. The voluminous balloon sleeve and tunic length body makes this soft-slouch sweater an office-to-lounge essential.  We love how the subtle grey coloration pairs with a good light-wash distressed denim. We’re currently loving all things AGOLDE. The Jamie High Rise Classic in Blur is the perfect vintage inspired, high waisted, tapered “mom jean” of the season. This button fly denim pant is an ideal transitional style comfortable enough to work from home in or run some socially distanced errands in. Before you pull on this sustainably produced pair, keep in mind these run quite large so take a full size down, there’s also no stretch so they will likely grow even more!
