How To: Wear Jewel Tones

When it comes time for that cold weather wardrobe refresh, integrating a new color palette is the key to an ever-evolving closet. While color and print tend to be brighter and often pastel-like through Spring and Summer, the deep saturated jewel tones for fall and holidays keeps things creative and on-trend. We’re loving the perennial ruby reds, amethyst purples, citrine yellows, and emerald greens but this week we’re showing you how to incorporate these saturated hues into your clothing palette. In this editorial, we are showing  you how we are matching back and giving life to our new jewel-tone arrivals.

Deep hues of ruby reds and oxblood are an essential jewel tone that we see annually with the coming of fall. The Kate Blouse in Red Python by Rails is the perfect edgy print with infinite outfit potential. We love the subtle snake print laid atop the richness of the oxblood ground. Not only does this blouse look beautiful, it feels just as luxurious. This 100% silk button-down features feminine tailoring with a single front pocket for a classic, sleek look. Ground this blouse with a n elevated black pant like the newest arrival from the Marianna Hewitt x DL1961 collab: the Bridget Crop in Black Coated. This ultra slimming ankle crop kick flare jean has a clean coated texture and a raw hem. Tuck your Kate Blouse into these pants to show off the high rise and let the top be the focal point keeping things subtle in a black, block-heeled bootie like the Shanta Bootie in Black by Dolce Vita. These are the perfect sock boot to hug your ankle and tuck perfectly under the hem of your Bridgets. Add a touch of warmth and reach for a clear framed pair of sunnies such as the Eldridge in Champagne with Olive Flat Lenses by Illesteva.

Maroons and purples are another critical category for fall jewel tones, but we love the luxurious level of brown achieved with the Kendall Blouse in Aubergine by CAMI NYC. Inspired by men's suiting, this cross front blouse features soft lapels and a deep V neckline cut from the brand’s signature sand wash silk charmeuse. This luxe fabrication elevates the aubergine purple color making this top ideal to wear from day-to-night. We love the elasticated hem as well as the bra-friendly front snap for easy outfitting and the illusion of a tucked blouse. Take this from desk to date with the ultra-stretchy and super comfortable Le High Skinny in Disco by Frame. These deep ink-blue washed denim will bring effortless style to your outfit while working with the shape and drape of the Kendall Blouse. Finish it off with an easy muted slip-on slide such as the Tobago in Metallic Blue by K. Jacques. These premium handmade sandals bring a small injection of color and texture to your outfit with the shimmery metallic deep blue coloration of the cross strap detailing.

Our last jewel-toned piece is a necessity that we all need in our closet. We are absolutely obsessing over the vibrant emerald color of our most recent new arrival by Harris Wharf, the Single Breasted Pressed Wool Coat in Bottle Green. Emerald is known to be one of the most captivating and calming colors found in nature. When paired with complimenting neutrals, this pick-me-up color brings a sense of optimism to your appearance. We are loving the combination of the jacket's classic silhouette with the serenity of the deep coloration. Layer this on top of your favorite washed graphic tee like the Wild Cat Tee in Washed Black by Anine Bing. Not only do we love the way the graphic's warm tones work together with the green, but we feel like the muted black compliments the overall aesthetic of the emerald. Make this a head-to-toe look by matching your tee back to a pair of edgy washed black jeans. We love the distressed look and silhouette of the Staley Tapered in Black by Moussy. By layering a tonal outfit underneath this jacket, you are allowing it to be a statement piece without clashing it with confusing color. Bring some metallic opulence to this look by going with a chunky sneaker such as the Running Sole in Silver Nets by Golden Goose. Finish it all off with a pair of edgy geometric sunnies such as the Lisbons in Black by Illesteva,  and hit the streets, looking like the ultimate urban city girl.
