How To Style Belts

An all too common accessory yet notoriously difficult to style for many, the belt is a wardrobe staple at Pavilion–and there are endless ways to work them into outfits! Different thicknesses and styles lend themselves to various stylistic and aesthetic usages, and today at Pavilion we show you our collection of classic leather belts, as well as how to implement them into your daily wardrobe.

From this waist cinchers to ultra thin accessory belts, every width of belt has its place. Our ultra skinny go-to belt is the Jane belt, a timeless design based off of designer Nili Lotan’s personal beloved vintage belt. At less than an inch in width, the Jane is our daintiest iteration and pairs beautifully with delicate fabrics. Introduce the belt into an outfit by shaping soft, drapey silks cut on the bias, which otherwise provide no definition to the silhouette. Flatter your torso by highlighting the waist and juxtapose fluid fabrics with a touch of shape-defining leather.

The Louise belt is roughly an inch in width and features glistening gold hardware with an engraved single gold buckle. At its width it is functionally ideal for wearing through denim belt loops, and as a point of reference for the classic French tuck of your top or sweater. We suggest trying it with directional denim to cinch the waist and provide extra support to keep your top tucked in place. Since it’s still winter, try it with an oversized cashmere turtleneck to keep you warm but still define your natural shape.

Finally, we venture into thick territory with the Nili. Ultra wide and crafted from soft Italian vachetta leather, this belt is an excellent waist cincher and its oblong gold buckle makes it versatile for dressing up or down. We suggest balancing ultra wide trousers with this thick belt, because it allows you to play with proportions across the outfit while still maintaining shape where it matters most. Bringing everything into the center of the outfit is both visually striking and flattering–and allows you to wear pants that may otherwise feel big or loose!
