Harris Wharf AW22

With the chilliest months of the year officially here, we are ecstatic about the arrival of a brand new collection from overcoat specialist Harris Wharf. Designed in London and made in Italy, Harris Wharf is a true Pavilion favorite for its well tailored, handcrafted quality with special details and striking colors. We have seven new arrivals from our beloved coat brand, each with something unique to offer. From pressed wool to boiled to boucle, there is an array of options for every type of coat lover. Today we highlight the three distinct fabrications and guide you on selecting the best size.

The important note with sizing on Harris Wharf coats is that they come in Italian sizing, which  generally runs one size smaller than European sizing. In American terms, 36 equates to about a 2, 38 about a 4, and so on–but also keep in mind that Harris Wharf intentionally sizes based on how they envision the coat to fit the body, and less so on numbered sizing. This means that styles intended to be oversized–like the teddy boucle coats below–will run much larger to their size, in contrast to the rest of the collection, which has a much tighter and tailored body fit, thus running much smaller. The dropped shoulder coats are crafted from faux shearling, which has a lightweight feel, and is fully lined.

In contrast, boiled wool offers a very different fit and feel. Boiled wool starts with knitted yarn treated through a process called fulling, which agitates the wool using hot water and an alkaline solution to create a dense, matte finish that resists fraying and further shrinkage. When selecting from our boiled wool options, take your true European size.

The third group of new coats are our pressed wool pieces–instead of knitted, pressed wool is mechanically pressed using heat, moisture and pressure to create a densely interlocked fiber with a smooth, lustrous finish. Our pressed wool pieces are intended to be close fitting through the shoulders, so take your true size or size up if you are between sizes.
