3 Ways to Wear a White Tee

We are on the eternal hunt for the perfect white tee, and what we’ve found in all of our years of searching is there’s not perfect “one” there’s a few depending on what you’re in the mood for. Sheer, opaque, crew, v-neck, cropped, long - all are great, and each have their time and place in your life and closet. We’re always inspired by the simple things in life, and it can’t get much more simple than a white t-shirt. Paired with your favorite threadbare jeans or dressed up with that summery midi skirt you need more excuses to wear, this versatility of a white tee is unparalleled. With so many options and iterations to love, we picked three of our current favorites to show you how we’re styling them this summer.

The Basic Boyfriend Tee - True to name, The Basic Tee from L.A. based design darling, Anine Bing, is quite basic in form, but only in the best way. This is everything you ever wanted your boyfriend’s white tee to be and more. 100% cotton, thick, opaque and oversized, this traditional shirt features a few key modern updates like a wider ribbed collar, and long sleeves perfect for holding a rolled cuff, to give you that ideal lived in look. Cut to be slightly oversized, you can take your true size or size down for something a bit more fitted. We’re taking advantage of the length of this shirt and front tucking into to our favorite low(er) rise Kelley Tapered jeans from Moussy.

The Deep Vee - Necklines can be super polarizing, but if you love a V-neck this one from AMO might be the one for you. Made in Los Angeles and cut from the silkiest, soft, washed cotton, this boxy tee has the perfect drape to it, keeping it feeling feminine and relaxed. There’s some soft distressing on the edges to give it a vintage feel but nothing so shredded you can’t wear it to work. This tee is running a little bit big and boxy and intended to be oversized - size down if you want this to be form fitting. We’re wearing this dressed down and front tucked with a printed midi skirt from Rails.

The Cropped Crew - Don’t worry when we say cropped we mean “long crop” which can still be tucked, tied, or worn untucked without baring more than you care to share. We’ve talked about the Headliner Crop from Alternative Apparel before but it’s so cute, comfortable and affordable we can’t help but gush some more. It’s available in a variety of colors but we’re loving how fresh the white feels. This easy crew neck is so soft it’s nearly sweater-like in the knit but still loose and lightweight. The ribbed collar gently frames the face but isn’t scratchy or suffocating. We’re enjoying wearing this one size large for a little extra length so it can be worn tucked out over a high-rise jean like the Bridget from DL1961 shown above.
