Spring is finally warming up and we’re ready to shed our winter wear and celebrate with some seasonally appropriate attire. Since San Francisco never really gets warm, and if we’re being honest Summer is really the foggiest time of year, we don’t get to step out in shorts and sundresses - so light wash denim it is! For those of you that have been rocking the light jean all winter you probably know the drill but there’s quite a few that are still unsure of how flattering the look is. Here are three different light wash fits for those who want a high, mid and low rise jean styled with simple, casual, classic pieces.

High Rise - The Riley in Renewal from L.A.’s hottest denim brand, AGOLDE, is another super ‘fashion high’ coming in at 11.5” with a button fly. These are running fairly true in size but keep in mind these are 100% cotton meaning they start stiff but will grow, break in and soften over time. We’re wearing this quite tight in our true size (26 shown here) but some are sizing up for a more relaxed look. Nothing says spring like jeans and white tee, so we’re showing off the high rise with a little front tuck and a chic, lightweight coat to top things off.

Mid Rise - The Babe is back from denim sweethearts AMO. This twist on their classic silhouette returns in rigid form (no stretch) so the fit feels a bit different than their traditional 2% stretch fabrications. They claim it is as a high rise but we still feel like this is more of a high-mid rise at 10”. What we love about the Loved wash is how flattering things as they’re fitted through the hips and thighs, dropping straight down to the signature released hem. We’re keeping this look easy for anything off-duty in a Rails shracket (that’s a shirt-jacket) and our favorite new Running Sole Golden Goose sneakers.

Low Rise - The Vivian in Light Blue is a new stretch low(ish)-rise from our house favorite Japanese denim brand Moussy. Each pair are painstakingly handmade and distressed in Japan and the craftsmanship is well worth the high price tag. These feel like a low-mid rise more than a true low but are ideal for petite ladies or anyone craving on the lower side. With a 26.5” inseam these are a great length for anyone on the shorter side. The thicker weight cotton stretch is a key ingredient to making sure these don’t look and feel too thin or revealing, no one wants a light wash jegging! We’ve paired these with a cozy vintage-feeling rocker tee from Anine Bing and some zippered high top Golden Goose to take advantage of that cropped length.
